    Hours:

    Monday through Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday: 12 Noon to 5:00 p.m.

                                       6:00pm to 11:00 p.m.

    Equipment Check-Out

All equipment must be returned to the RSO before closing time. Some equipment may have time limits due to their high demand. No item can be checked out overnight. Abuse of equipment, keeping equipment overnight, or abuse of time limits may result in punitive fines or loss of equipment checkout privileges.  This procedure is to ensure that items are not lost and that you have your UCR Card for identification and meals.

    Insurance

The University does not assume responsibility for personal items lost, mislaid, or stolen in the Residence Halls. Unfortunately, community living has the potential for providing irresistible temptation to some residents and non-residents. We strongly urge you to help prevent the possible loss of property by keeping your door locked and windows closed whenever your room is unoccupied. We will provide you with information regarding a personal property insurance policy that you may purchase if your personal items are not covered by your parents’ homeowner policy. Check them out on the web at www.nssinc.com.  While the provider has no affiliation with the University, they have for many years offered affordable insurance plans specifically designed for students.

    Lockouts

If you lock yourself out of your room during RSO hours, you may check out a spare key at the RSO. Spare keys must be returned to the RSO within 15 minutes. After RSO hours, you must contact the RA on Duty. The RA on Duty’s telephone number is posted at the RSO. The RA on Duty will unlock your room after verifying that you live there. Continually locking yourself out will result in punitive fines. *Do not borrow anyone's ID or keys to get access to the hall. *You are allowed 3 lockouts per academic year without a fine.

LOCK YOUR ROOM AND TAKE YOUR KEYCARD WITH YOU WHENEVER YOU LEAVE YOUR ROOM EVEN IF YOUR ROOMMATE IS IN THE ROOM AT THE TIME.

    Lost and Found

If you lose or find something in the Residence Halls, call the RSO (A-I: 2-5460, Lothian: 2-5972 and Pentland Hills: 2-6500).  The campus lost and found is in the Police building (2-3928).

You will be assigned a mailbox when room assignments are made. If you change rooms, you will keep the same mailbox (unless you change buildings.) Your mailbox will be canceled when you move out of the Residence Halls.  Be sure to fill out a forwarding address card when moving out.
