Dates of Contract

All funds required to operate the Residence Halls facilities and programs are obtained from room and board fees and summer conference income. The Residence Halls receive no funding from Federal, State, or University resources. The Residence Halls are committed to keeping rates as low as possible without reducing the quality or integrity of the program.

FALL QUARTER

Sunday, September 23, 2007 is the starting date for your 2007/2008 contract. Move-in is from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU MOVE IN AT THIS TIME. We have various orientations and activities planned to assist you "feel at home" before classes begin. We also ask that you do not go home until after the first two weeks. The building of hall communities and roommate relationships cannot occur if parts of the community are missing. These first few weeks are crucial in forging solid foundations for hall communities and roommate relationships.

WINTER & SPRING QUARTERS

Thursday, January 3 , 2008 is the starting date for Winter 2008 move-ins and Sunday, March 30, 2008 is the starting date for Spring 2008 move-ins. The Residence Halls open at 8:00 a.m. for both quarters starting dates.

INSTRUCTION

Fall quarter classes begin on Thursday, September 27 , 2008 Winter quarter classes on Friday, January 4 , 2008 and Spring quarter classes on Monday, March 31, 2008.


QUARTER BREAKS/HOLIDAYS

WINTER BREAK

The Residence Halls will be closed and secured for Winter break. It is not necessary to remove your belongings from your room. However, while the University will provide security during the break, you should take valuables home. The University is not liable for anything stolen during break.

Winter Break begins Saturday, December 15 , 2007 at 5:00 p.m., and ends Thursday, January 3 , 2008 at 8:00 a.m. You are asked to leave for Winter break no later than 24 hours after your last final. It is important that a strict study atmosphere be maintained during the entire finals week.

SPRING BREAK

The Residence Halls will also be closed for Spring Break. However, if you have a need to stay in the halls (work, research, etc.) you will be allowed to remain at the discretion of the Resident Director. Additional documentation will be required. More information will be given to residents about how to sign up for Spring Break during Winter quarter. As your contract does not cover Spring Break, there may be a charge for those staying. There is no Food Service offered during Spring Break.

Spring Break begins Saturday, March 22 , 2008 at 5:00 p.m., and ends Sunday, March 30 , 2008 at 8:00 a.m. If you are not staying during Spring break, you are asked to leave for break no later than 24 hours after your last final. Again, it is important that a strict study atmosphere be maintained during the entire finals week.

HOLIDAYS

The Residence Halls remain open for all holidays during each quarter.  Meals are provided on a weekend schedule for these holidays: Veterans Day (November 12th ), Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday (January 21st ), President’s Day (February 18th ) Cesar Chavez Day (March 28th ), and Memorial Day (May 26th). No meals are provided during Thanksgiving Weekend (dinner, November 22nd through dinner, November 26th ).
