Efficient use of energy and resources is not only a necessity today, but it also saves you money. You pay for your utilities through your housing payments. Any savings you make helps keep the cost of housing from going up. You can reduce the cost of utilities simply by being aware of what you use and avoiding waste.
The following suggestions are probably a part of your life already. You are encouraged to follow them during your stay in the Residence Halls.

Take short showers. Each minute you take off your shower saves up to 3 gallons of water.

Turn the faucet off when brushing your teeth or shaving. Don't let the water run.

Wash only full loads of laundry.

Report any leaks to the Resident Services Office.

Do not use electric door openers that are designated for students with disabilities unless necessary.

Take the stairs and avoid using the elevators.

Turn off lights when leaving a room.

Turn off your room fan when leaving your room.

Recycle aluminum cans, paper, cardboard and plastics in the appropriate places.

Do not waste food. Take what you want, but eat what you take.
