Housing Services is one of the campus’ largest employers of students. The jobs offered conveniently work around your class schedules and many offer personal growth and leadership opportunities, in addition to a paycheck. The following positions are worth your consideration:

 

Residence Life Staff

While most of these positions are selected the year before, there may be more openings available through the year. Check the Housing website at http://www.housing.ucr.edu or the bulletin board in your building periodically for new opportunities.

 

Resident Advisor (Residence Halls and Campus Apartments)

The Resident Advisor is a paraprofessional member of UCR Housing. Under the direct supervision of the Resident Director, the RA is responsible for enforcing policies and procedures; the RA accepts general responsibility for hall/building property and for working directly with a variety of students residing on the assigned hall. Facilitate and set mood for resident interaction and resident involvement in the hall community. Assist in initiating a variety of programs and activities throughout the year for the assigned hall and building (such as: set-up for major dances, hosting, tours and distribution of materials to residents). Contribute to the development and growth of residents and possess the maturity, integrity, sincerity, insight, responsibility, and respect for others to make this possible.

Requirements:

  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of one academic year at an accredited university or college.  Juniors and Seniors are preferred.
  • Must have a Cumulative GPA of 2.5, maintain a Quarter GPA of 2.3 and earn a minimum of 12 units throughout the academic year. UCR grade history will be reviewed.
  • Must have resided in a Residence Hall or other large group living situation for a minimum of one full academic year.
  • Must be a full-time UCR registered student for the academic school year.
  • Must reside in a unit assigned to you in either A-I, Lothian, Pentland Hills or Campus Apartments during employment.

    Program Coordinator

    The Program Coordinator is a paraprofessional member of UCR Housing. Under the direct supervision of the RPD, the PC accepts general responsibility for Hallwide programs, focusing on social, academic and educational issues. Facilitate and set mood for resident interaction and resident involvement in the building community. Contribute to the development and growth of residents and possess the maturity, integrity, sincerity, insight, responsibility and respect for others to make this possible.

    Special Interest Program Coordinator

    The Special Interest Program Coordinator accepts general responsibility for cultural and educational programs for Residence Hall students in the Special Interest Halls. They facilitate a positive environment for resident interaction and resident involvement in their assigned community. There are six types of Special Interest housing options that include Pan African Theme Hall (PATH), MUNDO, Stonewall, CHASS Connect, In-Step, and Enginuity.

    Requirements:

  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of one academic year at an accredited university or college. Juniors and Seniors are preferred.

  • Must have a Cumulative GPA of 2.5, maintain a Quarter GPA of 2.3 and earn a minimum of 12 units throughout the academic year. UCR grade history will be reviewed.

    Resident Services Assistant

    The Resident Service Assistant is a paraprofessional member of UCR Housing Services. Under the Direct Supervision of the Resident Services Lead, the RSA accepts general responsibility for maintaining the Resident Services Office during their shift. The RSA assists residents in every day needs such as equipment check-out, maintenance issues, lock-outs and general information.

    Requirements:

  • Must be a resident of the Residence Halls for the academic school year

  • Must have a Cumulative GPA of 2.5, maintain a Quarter GPA of 2.3, and earn a minimum of 12 units throughout the academic year. UCR grade history will be reviewed.

  • To apply for the position: must have earned a Cumulative GPA of 2.5, Quarter GPA of 2.3 and earn a minimum of 12 units for Academic Year.

  • Prefer that you have some experience working in an office atmosphere

  • Prefer that you have clerical experience such as typing, filing, and reception duties

    Resnet Technical Consultant (Residence Halls and Campus Apartments)

    The Resnet Technical Consultant (RTC) is a paraprofessional member of UCR Housing Services. The RTC accepts general responsibility for maintaining the Housing Network, Computer Labs, and resident assistance in personal computer network needs.

    Requirements:

  • Must have a Cumulative GPA of 2.5, maintain a Quarter GPA of 2.5 and earn a minimum of 12 units throughout the academic year.  UCR grade history will be reviewed.

  • Understanding of computer and network principles

    Selection Process Begins:

    Conference Assistant

    Support and assist summer staff with various duties to insure a smooth, well-run conference season. Will work directly with conference participants and students. Will accept general responsibility for building and property.

    Requirements:

  • Must have resided in a Residence Hall or large group living situation

  • Must reside in the Residence Hall during summer months

  • Enjoy working with various conferencing groups of many different ages.

    Summer Campus Apartment Resident Advisors

    The Resident Advisor is a paraprofessional member of UCR Housing. In promoting an environment that is conducive to academic, social, cultural and personal development, the RA’s overall purpose is to provide leadership and guidance to Bannockburn Village, Plaza, and Stonehaven residents and support for Housing professional and paraprofessional staff. Under the direct supervision of the Resident Director, the RA is responsible for enforcing policies and procedures, along with providing after hours and Resident Services support.

    Requirements:

  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of one academic year at an accredited university or college.

  • Must have attended UCR for a minimum of one full academic year, preferably residing in on-campus housing, and be familiar with the campus and services for the student population.

  • Must reside in a unit assigned to you in Bannockburn Village, Plaza, or Stonehaven during employment.

    Dining Services Staff

    There are many Dining Services positions available. If you are interested in applying before you move in, contact the Dining Services Office by phone at (951) 827.6120 or (951) 827.6121, by fax at (951) 827.6122, or apply online at http://dining.ucr.edu/jobs.

     

    Campus Jobs

    In addition to jobs in the Residence Halls, other campus positions are also available. Student employment information may be obtained from the Career Services Office at (951) 827.4755.

    For any campus job, you will need to have your driver’s license (or other picture ID) and your social security card, not a copy. If you plan to work on campus, be sure to bring these documents from home.

     

    Residence Hall Ambassadors

    Residence Hall Ambassadors are student volunteers who, through hosting prospective students over-night, give these students a taste of what UCR has to offer. Residence Hall Ambassador’s duties include having prospective students spend the night in their room three to four times a year, giving tours of the Residence Halls and campus, taking students to class, and answering questions. Last year we had over 300 residents volunteer for this program. You may sign-up to be a Residence Hall Ambassador anytime during the year. If interested, contact Noha Sadek at 2-6506.

     

    Hall Senators

    Hall Senators are student leaders selected to represent their hall as voting members of the Residence Hall Association building council.

     

    Peer Review Board (A.K.A. Scotty’s Bar)

    The Peer Review Board (PRB) is a group of student volunteers, who hear cases of conduct code violations in the Residence Halls. Responsibilities include formal training and weekly meetings. PRB applications are available at the beginning of the academic year.

     

    Highlander Leadership Academy

    The Highlander Leadership Academy is a program where you will learn leadership skills, to effectively communicate, connect with student leaders, and learn what it takes to be a successful student leader.

     

    Peer Mentors

    Peer Mentors live and work in Special Interest Housing to assist in the transition to UCR and on-campus living.
